How Significant pH Study in the Diagnosis of Symptomatic Patients in the Saudi Community

Objective: This study aims to determine how significant pH study in the diagnosis of symptomatic patients in the Saudi Community, also to identify a correlation between the symptom and pH level changes, assess the efficacy of pH levels in evaluating symptomatic patients, find the impact of pH in symptomatic relief, classify patients according to their pH level for diagnosing, and to study the impact of the pH study results on the way of patients Management and outcomes.

Method: A cohort study will be conducted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The study population will include 134 participants aged between 18 to 70 years. Data will be collected from Gastroenterology Specialized Clinic in Riyadh receiving patients from different regions of Saudi Arabia (Human Clinic).

Results: Outcomes revealed that the majority of GERD symptomatic patients showed a high percentage of normal pH DeMeester score compared with patients with no GERD disease. These results emphasize the significant influence of pH study in diagnosing symptomatic patients.

Conclusion: pH is an important physiological factor in diagnosing groups of diseases related to the Gastrointestinal tract. It’s considered a golden diagnostic tool foracid reflux. This study aims to assess the significance of pH study in the diagnosis of symptomatic patients in the Saudi Community. The study population included 134 participants aged between 18 to 70 years. 42.9% of the patients had normal pH, 37% had high pH and about 20% had severely high pH.
