Case presentation :
Patient arrived at Ziauddin dental OPD An 11 years old child Farhan Akhtar came with complain of continous severe in lower left posterior region of the jaw, persisting for 2_3 days , the pain was radiating to head, intensified by hot stimuli and significantly disrupted sleep ,on clinical examination mild facial swelling was present on left side along with slight redness in the ipsilateral eye, indicating possible spread of infection beyond oral cavity.

Objective:
This case report highlights the critical importance of timely diagnosis and effective management of pediatric dental infections, emphasizing the need for clinical vigilance, empathetic patient care, and appropriate treatment planning. The primary objective was to relieve the patient’s pain, eliminate the source of infection, and ensure effective communication and comfort throughout the clinical process.
Method:
A thorough clinical and radiographic evaluation was conducted. Percussion testing elicited no pain, but periapical radiography revealed a visible radiolucency associated with a grossly carious deciduous molar. Given the patient’s cooperative behavior, the tooth’s non-restorable condition, and the eruption of the underlying permanent successor, extraction was deemed the most appropriate course of action.
Conclusion:
Prompt extraction of the infected deciduous tooth successfully alleviated the patient’s symptoms and prevented further complications. this case emphasizes the clinical importance of identifying odontogenic infections early, especially when extraoral signs appear. Failure to manage such infections can result in the spread to adjacent structures or systemic involvement.
Dental professionals must remain alert to signs of infection extending beyond the oral cavity.
