Abstract:

Introduction:

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disorder with multisystem involvement, affecting body sites such as the skin, joints (most frequent involvement), or entheses and uvea.

Its complex pathogenesis involves T lymphocytes (CD4+, CD8+), dendritic cells and many inflammatory molecules – interleukins or ckemokines: TNF-α, IL-6, IL-17, IL-8, IL-20, IL-23. The cellular and molecular interactions, combined with a genetic susceptibility, determine  keratinocytic responses manifesting as hyperproliferation, with the presence of epidermal and dermal inflammatory infiltrates, which translates on macroscopic examination as erythematous plaques.
