Abstract:
Constant automation progress in laboratory medicine within its different departments has improved the quality and turn-around time of laboratory results. Clinical pathology, microbiology, immunology and molecular laboratory divisions have seen rapid implementation of automation. Histopathology technology, on the other hand, and more specifically digital pathology, does not seem to get the same speed of automation like other laboratory departments. The objective of the presentation is to explore the degree of digital pathology utilization in the GCC to provide optimized patients’ care and advancing the field of histopathology. The presentation is supported by a survey that evaluate the status of histopathology labs automation in GCC countries.
Speaker Biography:
Kadhem has more than 25 years of experience in medical laboratory technologies, with more focus on histotechnology, electron microscopy and molecular biology technology. He pays attention to details and treat all samples with high priority.
Kadhem has a Doctorate of Health Sciences, Master in Anatomy, BSc in Biology with specialization in Histotechnology, and Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. He is ASCP certified histotechnologist and molecular biology technologist. He is the founder and managing director of EXPRESSMED Diagnostics and Research.
