Introduction: Cervical cancer, the second leading cause of death in women, is by far one of the most common cancers affecting females worldwide. Early diagnosis of cervical cancer, increases the chances of successful treatment. However, due to the reduced knowledge about the importance of screening and awareness of the signs and symptoms, cervical cancer cases continue to raise.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the knowledge and attitude toward cervical cancer screening among women in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Methods: A descriptive, cross- sectional study was conducted among female university students and staff in the UAE from October 2022 to November 2022. A self-administered survey assessed the participants demographic characteristics, cervical cancer knowledge, cervical cancer screening knowledge and attitude. Data collected from the survey were analyzed by using SPSS and P value below 0.05 (p˂0.05) was considered significant.

Results: Over 540 female participants from different Emirates of UAE completed an online survey. The majority of the participants were Emirati single women aged 18 to 20 years old. There was a significant correlation (p-value <0.05) between total cervical cancer screening knowledge and attitude with age group (p-value = 0.001), nationality (p-value = 0.001), marital status (p-value = 0.001), level of education and field of education (p-value = 0.009). Overall, the majority of participants had average cervical cancer knowledge (51.2%), followed by poor (28.5%), good (19.2%) and only 1.3% had excellent knowledge.

Conclusion: The results from the study provides an increase understanding of cervical cancer knowledge and perceptions towards cervical cancer screening among women in the UAE. The findings of this study will support the UAE Health Authorities in the development of strategies in order to enhance cervical cancer knowledge and promote a positive attitude towards screening among UAE females, ultimately reducing cervical cancer cases in the UAE.
